The Kyrgyz Literary Language and Local Dialects

A Grade 8 Kyrgyz Language topic: «The Kyrgyz literary language and local dialects» (A. Imanov, A. Kaibyldaev, A. Saparbaev, B. Usubaliev, pp. 3–7). A literary language is the highest, normed form; it was built on the local dialects and is tied to the printed word: «Эркин Тоо» appeared in 1924. B. M. Yunusaliev called dialect vocabulary «one of the inexhaustible sources for a growing literary language». Words from the southern dialects — гозо, чигит, жөөк, шалы, пилла — have since entered the standard dictionary. The second half of the lesson covers the paragraph and the micro-theme.
