Material haqida
Grade 9 History of Religions topic: '§1. The idea of the foundations of religion' (pp. 8–14, A. K. Dotaliev et al.).
The foundations of religion are divided into four: the source of the religion, faith, worship and moral conduct. The source of a religion is the Creator, the holy book, His messenger, the words of the messenger and his exemplary deeds. Faith is belief in what the source of the religion has set out. Worship is the carrying out of religious values. Moral conduct is the taking of those values into a person's inner world. A book that sets out the foundations of a religion is called a 'Holy Book'; such books are the Torah, the Psalms, the Gospel and the Quran. The holy texts of Buddhism, written in Pali, are called the Tipitaka (the Three Baskets) and consist of three parts: the Vinaya Pitaka, the Sutta Pitaka and the Abhidhamma Pitaka. The holy book of the Christians has two parts: the 'Old Testament' and the 'New Testament'. In Islam it is the Quran, followed by the deeds of the Prophet (the sunna), the agreed opinion of the scholars (ijma) and the rule of analogy (qiyas).
