Grade 8 Geography topic: “General orographic scheme of the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic” (A. O. Osmonov, 2.1, pp. 14–23). The territory of Kyrgyzstan covers the western part of the Tien Shan and the northern part of the Pamir-Alay mountain systems; the natural boundary between them is the Fergana Valley. The Tien Shan (Ala-Too) stretches 2450 km from west to east; the Meridional Range divides it into two roughly equal parts. The highest peaks are Jengish Chokusu (Victory Peak, 7439 m) and Khan-Tengri (6995 m). The ranges form three chains: the Northern (Kungey Ala-Too 285 km, Kyrgyz Ala-Too 454 km, Talas Ala-Too 260 km), the Middle (Teskey Ala-Too 354 km) and the Southern (Kakshaal-Too 582 km) Tien Shan. In the Pamir-Alay there are the Alay (350 km) and Chong-Alay (250 km) ranges, with Lenin Peak at 7134 m.
