Grade 5 Technology topic: '§1. The section on growing plants' (pp. 5–10, Ch. T. Mambetaliev et al.). The work of farming falls into two branches: farm production and manufacture. The main tasks of farm production are to grow the plants that are needed and to supply people with vegetables and fruit. The main natural resources are land, water, sunlight, electricity and machinery. The plants grown on farms are divided into cereals, legumes, vegetables, berry bushes, fruit trees and fodder grasses. The cereals include wheat, rye, oats and barley. A person who grows cereals is called a 'baba dyikan', one who grows trees a 'bagban', and one who creates new varieties of plants a plant breeder. I. V. Michurin created more than 300 valuable varieties of fruit.
