A Grade 7 Mathematics topic: «Collecting and Classifying Data» (Chapter 6 «Statistics», 6.1, pp. 184–191, Toh Tin Lam).
There are three types of data: categorical, ordinal and numerical. Numerical data is either discrete (we count it) or continuous (we measure it). Collection methods: observation, survey, interview, focus group. A good sample is random and covers every group. A Venn diagram sorts with circles; a Carroll diagram sorts with a table.
