Frequently asked questions

Does compressing a photo reduce its quality?

At 75–85% quality the difference is barely visible while the file gets 3–10 times smaller. Use the “Compare” slider to check the result against the original right away.

How do I compress a photo to 100 KB or 200 KB?

Choose “Target size” and enter 100 or 200 KB. The tool finds the highest quality that fits and, if that is not enough, gradually lowers the resolution.

Why does PNG barely shrink?

PNG is lossless and keeps every pixel. To cut the size substantially, switch the format to WebP (transparency is kept) or JPG.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Compression happens in your browser; the photos never leave your computer or phone.

How many images can I compress at once?
