About this material

Grade 5 Russian Language topic: “Слова, близкие по значению” — words close in meaning (V. G. Kamenetskaya, N. G. Kamenetskaya, Russkoye slovo 5, Part 1, pp. 5–10). Russian has words that are close in meaning but are written and pronounced differently — synonyms. For example: дети — ребята, село — деревня, тяжёлый — трудный, кушать — есть. From the text: Кыргызстан — Кыргызская Республика, ученики — школьники, ясный — светлый, товарищи — друзья. “Did you know?”: the first schools appeared in Babylonia, India and China, and the word «школа» appeared in Ancient Greece. The endings -ого, -его are written but pronounced -ова, -ева (красного, моего, пятого).
